This is the real last Calvin and Hobbes strip from December 31st 1995. Full of optimism just as it should have been. Bill Watterson wouldn’t have retired with a depressing strip. The fact that that picture of the fake one had over 30,000 notes on it is really sad. I only recently learned that the other one was a fan-made comic. How dare they mess with my emotions like that.  huh, FAN made. no legitimate fan would find that to be an acceptable ending
